Wear Clean Draws  (’coz there’s 5 million ways to kill a ceo)

bye bye hyooooge fridge

ha. this weekend, cleaning the fridge, i remembered what WDK said about how hyooooge the fridge was here at swank condo — which i’m going to leave behind. *sigh* i will miss granite countertops, corian bath counters, gorgeous tile, the most glorious woodfloors i’ve seen in all my house and condo hunting, and the *lust* kraftmaid cabinets. oh, and the closetmaid walk-in closet.

*sigh*

oh, i’ll be happy at my new place. it’s only a mile away — within walking distance of work! yay! i can hop over to the gym on my way home every night! yay! it’s in a beautiful and historic neighborhood. this particular neighborhood was actually built in the 80s, but it’s still OK. the street we’re on is a cool, tree-lined boulevard with townhouses across the way built to preserve something of the federalist style that dominates the area.

i decided to take a photo of the fridge for WDK, and to laugh about my dorkiness. I cleaned the fridge last weekend, even tho we’re not moving until this coming weekend. to preserve the cleanlieness, i have wasted some plastic wrap — i always buy those huge rolls from the warehouse store b/c it’s cheaper and the stuff’s better than what you get at grocery store. they last five years and more. hell, the box usually breaks down from wear before i use up the wrap, so it’s always duct taped.

so i’ve plastic wrapped all the shelves and places everything in drawers in bags to protect the drawers from those bits that fall off celery and lettuce. and i’ve placed brown paper sacks as liners on the door shelves. hey! with any luck, i will only have to wipe up small bits.

but man, is it so much easier to clean something that is well made.

has anyone ever noticed that? if you have quality stuff, the material is much easier to keep clean. the finish on the kraftmaid cabinets totally resist seepage, spillage, and stainage. the finish is such that they’re not pourous, so you don’t get staining. Same thing with fridge. although I think the plastic cracked too easily, it remained the case that it was the easiest fridge in the world to clean. the material didn’t become porous and, thus, suck up any color from weeping, rotting lettuce leaves or carrots — coz R can’t see anything b/c he doesn’t open a drawer more than and inch when he looks for stuff. hence, the rottage. :)
(I’m convinced this trait is in the male genetic code or sumpin.)

anyway, i’ve got to get back to creating a presentation for work. i might post more pics. oh, below are the flowers sonshine and his gf sent for mom’s day. if you look really closely at the reflection in the doors, you’ll see crates upon crates of books we’ve stacked up.

oh, i couldna help maself. there’s more: pics of our building (bye bye swank condo!) YUP market, city streets at early a.m., and the alley that i love which i pass on my way to work. alleys fascinate me. they are so city — and i know people who live in real cities laugh at my ellie maeness. but damn it, this may be as close as i get to living in a city and i’m going to love love love it with all my heart as long as i can. so there!

bye bye gorgeous fridge
