boy. after reading around bloglandia re: that blowout brownfemipower mentioned, there’s a lot of stuff i’dliketo rant about — including how disturbed i am that radicals are viewing vegetable gardening as a form of liberation. feh. meanwhile, i came across this statement:

“There’s often talking about “unpacking the knapsack” and various methods for examining and critiquing our personal privilege and power. ” (at some blog by someone name virago http://avowedvirago.wordpress.com/2009/02/25/on-vulnerability-integrity-blogosplosions-bloviating/ — sorry, i don’t link b/c i have no interest in dialogue with random people on the interwebz)

the biggest thing that blew my mind about bloglandia is this: almost all o’ ya’s are so totally doin’ et rong I don’t even know where to begin. the discussions on class are fucked up, as are the discussions on privilege. there are debates but the people having them are not cognizant of the fact that these debates are very old and maybe reading these debates wouldmake it less personal…

oh, which reminds, why i got peeved with the quote. the author writes, “personal privilege and power”.

KNAPSACKS DO NOT CONTAIN PERSONAL PRIVILEGE OR POWER. By DEFINITION privilege is NOT personal. Power, can be, but in this case it is not what we are talking about. Because the power that matters to us when talking about oppression is BEYOND INDIVIDUALS.

fini. because writing a lot more on this topic? waste of time.

I kept trying to say this and getting treated like a damn leper for it. I felt like I was taking crazy pills.
