Wear Clean Draws  (because there’s 5 million ways to kill a ceo)

i had wanted to take a picnic dinner but didn’t get my ass home earlier enough, but also set about doing some organizational crap upstairs.

it would have been a perfect night for it. it was a gorgeous day: not humid, around 75-80 degrees F. One thing I don’t like about the area is the seeming lack of parks that actually seem to be there for people to have cookouts and picnics. I was thinking about heading up to ocean view, but figured I’d wait on that.

Meanwhile, tomorrow it’s supposed to be in the mid-90s!!! (No shit: the weather swings by 20 degrees from one day to the next as a regular thing around this crazy place) and I’m guessing that I will be hot after biking home from work, and not in the mood for an outdoor picnic. So, my other plan is to finally finally go to this restaurant: Pasha Mezza. It also has a nifty coffee shop they just opened. I’ve been waiting and waiting for it to open. It’s in the coolest little former train station:

They’ve since painted it and spiffed it up, with some yummy brownish-red clay color and beautiful contrasting black. But every time I’ve stopped to get coffee, they haven’t been open. Tonight, I swung around to catch the hours posted on the sign. And then realized that I’ve been wanting to eat at the restaurant since forever. It sounds lummy.

i have mentioned how much i love this place because of the train whistles and the foghorns. every time i hear those sounds, my mind wanders off into story telling mode for some reason. i think it might be because my younger years were spent living near train tracks. it only just occurred to me now that this might be why. anyway, enough with the belly button lint. maybe when i’ve caught up with all the stuff i’m doing around the house, i’ll have time for reporting on what i’ve been reading. mostly the NY Times book review. I did try delving into _White Protestant America_ but, frankly, the author’s encyclopedic style is just boring the shit out of me. I shouldn’t have let my feeling that I had to support the local indie book shop get to me. I felt obliged to actually buy something.

Oooo Ooooo. pic of indie book shop downtown:

You can see it from my workplace, too:

  1. I suppose I’m off topic, but I just wanted some advise. The supply shipment just arrived, I got my new calculator. So the old one works, but not really, because when you clear it, sometimes it doesn’t clear so you end up with crazy numbers. And my question is, what do you think I should do with the old one/ Pitch it? or put on the bottom of the drawer with all the other stuff?

  2. ha ha ha. you have no idea how hard i laughed when i read this. i say: give it away on freecyle. :)
